Do you qualify?
- Are you over 18?
- Are you an Australian citizen or permanent resident?
- You have not applied for the water rebate?
- Your home is older than 2003?
With the help of this government rebate you could save the entire cost of installing insulation. The Homeowner Insulation Program offers ceiling insulation worth up to $1,600 to owner-occupiers.
The program targets homeowners who are currently uninsulated, or have ceiling insulation with an R-value of 0.5 or less. If the total cost of installation is less than $1,600 there will be no more for the homeowner to pay. This will be the case for most homeowners, as the average cost to insulate a home is estimated to be $1,200.
The full program starts on 1 July 2009 and will run until 31 December 2011, but homeowners don’t have to wait. The Australian Government has released early installation guidelines so people can access this assistance now. If you are installing insulation in an existing home on or after 3 February 2009 and before 1 July 2009 you still qualify for the government assistance.
